MOSCOW: Nine workers were killed and six offended in a excavation blast in Russia’s northern Murmansk area, the local news organization reported Friday, citing a police source.
The blast took place Thursday when an volatile mix unintentionally detonated during mine at an apatite mine near Kirovsk, a town some 1,500 kilometers (900 miles) north of Moscow, the unidentified foundation was quoted as saying.
As a result of the explosion nine people died. Six received injuries, of which three have been hospitalised as the others received outpatient care,” the agency said, adding that three more workers were unaccounted for.

Due to the incidents of firing and violent behavior, 28 people have so far been killed and 100 including 19 women continued injuries while unknown persons torched over two dozens vehicles, six shops, one warehouse and a marriage hall in different areas of the metropolis.
Dead bodies and wounded persons were shifted to Abbasi Shaheed Hospital and Qatar Hospital.
Situation is still anxious in assorted areas as well as Banaras Colony, Orangi Town and North Nazimabad.

The World Cup squads have been announced. For Australia, the main surprise was the inclusion of Shaun Tait who was preferred over Stuart Clark. As Tait is from my home town, I’m personally delighted, although I doubt he will play much, at least after the first group games. Scotland might be facing a new ball attack of Tait and Lee, which would be a rough initiation for them. Clark is not happy about being omitted but has vowed to come back next season as a better bowler.
Meanwhile, Australia’s cheif medical officer has come out to warn injured Andrew Symonds about rushing his come-back. The Australian dressing room is full of half-fit players, and given the lack of fitness and form of so many players, I do not think Australia can really be favourites for this tournament anymore. Vaughan has flown back home to England. Shabbir Ahmed played a single twenty20 and Shoaib Akhtar just played for a couple of sessions of a test and both went home. Is anyone else a bit shocked by the spate of injuries that have befallen the English and Pakistani sides? I’m no doctor, but its safe to assume the amount of cricket being played today is reducing the shelf life of our cricketers. I remember supporting Gavaskar just last year when he ridiculed the complaints of modern players on being burnt-out.
“These players are turning out for their countries. It’s an honour to represent your country. I would be willing to sweat 365 days in a year for India. Those who can’t stand the heat should stay out.”
At the time I thought it was silly for highly paid players to complain while they had the best health care possible provided to them. [...]
