Amitabh Bachchan Create Shockingly New Look

Amitabh Bachchan, The last lear, Planman Motion Pictures, Preity zintaAmitabh Bachchans most awaited film Planman Motion Pictures The Last Lear is releasing on September 12. The film is directed by the multiple-award winning Rituparno Ghosh and stars Amitabh Bachchan- Preity Zinta- Arjun Rampal- Shefali Shah & Divya Dutta. The release was recently announced and the first trailer can be seen in the theatre when you go for Singh is Kinng. The audience that managed catching its glimpse was awestruck by Bachchans unique get up in the film. Says a viewer I saw the trailer in the interval of Singh is Kinng.

It caught me completely by surprise! Amitabh is looking so smashing in his long white hair and Preity looks gorgeous in a sari. I have never seen her like this before. It looks like an interesting film. I am waiting for it to release! The film has already been screened at four of the world’s best film festivals including Toronto Rome London and Rotterdam. The response there was astounding with long standing ovations after all the screenings. International critics and few Indian film personalities who have seen the film, unanimously have only one thing to say that this is Bachchans best film ever. Quite a compliment this is for a man who is the greatest living legend in Indian cinema. Amitabh Bachchan plays an actor, for the very first time in his long professional life, in The Last Lear It’s amazing how the biggest superstar of Indian films has never played an actor in his almost 4-decades long career. Now, this should be fun! In the trailer Amitabh Bachchan can be seen effortlessly chanting away powerful dialogues in that voice that can shake mountains with his long flowing robes and a white mane Bachchan surely enthralls. If the promise of excitement and hatke entertainment in the promo is anything to go by, then this is going to be one rocking film.

Amitabh Bachchan Perform a Different Role

 Amitabh Bachchan, Legend, Performance, UTV

The photographs of Amitabh Bachchan walking through a long road as an old backpacker with flowing white hair looking tired and exhausted came up in the media sometime back. These photos from the location of the film Shoebite gave us expectations of a great realistic movie and to see Big B in a role that is completely different from all the characters he has done so far. But disappointment in the form of a court order has killed the hope now. Film maker Shoojit Sarkar was calling the shots of Shoebite and the film was being produced by UTV and the work was progressing well. Percept Picture company went to the Delhi High court claiming that they are the real copyright holders of the movie. They informed the court that Shoojit Sarkar was to make the film with Percept Picture Company and previously the project was named as ‘Johnny Walker and that film never took off from the initial stages and then Shoojit approached UTV.After UTV agreed to finance the film the story was retained without any changes and the  movie got a new name. When this came to the attention of Percept they took legal action alleging infringement of copyright by UTV and the court gave a verdict in favour of Percept naming them the rightful owners of Johny Walker now only a mutual understanding between Percept Picture Company and UTV will help to bring the film to the cinema halls. Let’s hope for a positive outcome so that a good work of art will not get lost.

Amitabh Bachchan was annoyed by the unmannerly behaviour of some media crew

At the press conference held for The Unforgettable Tour, Amitabh Bachchan was annoyed by the unmannerly behaviour of some media crew present and voiced his displeasure as well. When the media interaction session began, the TV channels camera crew and the still photographers started making a lot of noise amongst themselves which was disturbing the on going proceedings. An annoyed Big B then immediately got up and taking on the mike ordered to those creating noise to maintain silence.

He was left further irritated by some childish questions by few members of the media. Like one TV journalist kept on asking him questions related to the current political situation in the country. When Big B tried to reason out why was he being asked this question, the female journalist replied, “because it involves your brother Mr. Amar Singh.” To this the Senior Bachchan immediately hit back saying sarcastically, “You, too, are my sister so should I be concerned about all your problems?”

Another journo asked him in chaste Bhojpuri, “In what capacity is Jaya Bachchan coming to the world tour?” To which he replied poker faced, “Just as my wife!”

One more scribe, asked him how will he manage his show in London as on the same day in the same city, Shah Rukh Khan is going to perform as well. Bachchan feigning ignorance about the fact replied, “I don’t know if he is performing. But if he really is then the more the merrier.”

Bachchan never looked pleased during the entire press conference and most of his answers to other questions, too, bordered on the sarcastic!

Abhishek Bachchan too got caught in his “Pa’s” mood and when asked how does he unwind himself in real life, he replied, “By attending press conferences like these!”

Aishwarya and Preity Zinta and even Ritesh Deshmukh who, too, were present at the press conference were hardly asked any questions by the media!

Amitabh Bachchan Bhootnath

While the whole of Bollywood seems to go totally ga-ga over the current Cannes Film Festival and the Bachchans seem to be basking at the splendid locales of France director Vivek Sharma is on a whole new mission. Despite the movie not making big reviews it has managed to pave a path lined with cinematic rose petals and a platinum opportunity post Bhootnath. The director has been with his pen and this time not just for scripting the sequel to Bhootnath but rather signing checks. Vivek has been on a signing spree with heavy weights of the industry along with Vashu Bhagnanis much awaited KAL KISNE DEKHA Amitabh Bachchans AB corp. Shahrukh Khans Red Chillies Studio 18 and Shree Ashtavinayak Cine Vision. What more can one expect especially after ones debut venture.

Bollywood Loses a Great Writer

Vijay Tendulkar Amitabh Bachchan

Vijay Tendulkar was a person who took a committed stand and stood by it says Bollywood superstar Amitabh Bachchan expressing his admiration for the eminent playwright who died Monday. Vijay Tendulkarji was a strong and fearless writer and a great mind. I am deeply saddened to hear the news of his passing away Amitabh told IANS from London where he is with the entire family after attending the Cannes film festival. I never had the opportunity of spending any quality time with him but I did meet him during common social events. Barring the exchange of courtesies and acknowledging each others creative contribution such moments were rushed and hurried and but one read a lot about him in the media and through his interviews. Amitabh was full of admiration for the man who re wrote many rules of stage writing. In todays world it is difficult and tough to take a committed stand and pursue it. Vijay Tendulkarji did. And that was his strength. At times this stand is the solitary voice of reason often misunderstood but seldom wrong. There was regret for not having known Tendulkar more closely. The greatness about words and writers is that much after they are gone their thoughts remain with us. In fact the sad irony of life is that in most cases it is only when they are gone do we realise their potential and their great contribution. Coincidentally Tendulkar died of myasthenia gravis a disease that has also afflicted the Big B. In my case it is thankfully in remission. But it can return any moment he ends ominously before returning to the family for the rest of the holiday.

Bhoothnath and Thoughts

Bhoothnath Amitabh bachchan

As expected BHOOTHNATH did not set the cash counters jingling on the day of it’s releaseThe film couldn’t create any excitement throughout it’s promotional campaign and the theme friendship of a ghost and a kid too didn’t promise any built up on hype. The film opened to a mixed response both from the paying public as well as the critics. The film didn’t go the whole hog in terms of kiddie entertainment and in the end even presence of Shah Rukh Khan in a 20 minutes appearance didn’t make film buffs lap up to BHOOTNATH and though there have been murmurs of the film picking up over the weekend it is purely in relative terms considering the poor start 30%-40% that the film took. The film needs to see a good escalation over the second weekend as well to go past the safety mark and anyone surprised at all by the horrendous fate of JIMMY? I mean the scare factor was right up there the moment first look of JIMMY was unveiled during the screening of PARTNER. The film was so shabbily packaged that it made Mithun Chakraborty’s Ootywood films look like far more polished products. No wonder the moment screening of JIMMY began there were tell tale signs all over about the bruises that Mimoh’s launch would face over the next few days. Such bad is the execution of the film that even average acting and looks of Mimoh are being hailed to be the best part about JIMMY.

Big, B said attacks on my home not manipulated

Indopak talk

, ,

indian news amitabh bachchan

Amitabh Bachchan has rubbished reports that incidents of bottle throwing on his house during the Maharashtra Navnirman Sena (MNS) campaign against North Indians were ‘manipulated. I have video and photographic evidence of it. Police and its high officials have done investigation and made reports. If some feel that this was manipulated they are so wrong. You attribute far too much to my devious acumen. I am afraid I do not possess such attributes. But as I said, this is a free country and everyone has the right to their own speech,” Big B wrote in his blog responding to queries from bloggers. He said. If wrong has been done by me, then let the Law of the land prevail. The questions on my buying land or my farmer status is still sub-judice, so I cannot make any comments on that yet. But I shall wait for the judgment to come and whichever way it goes I shall respect the verdict. Bachchan said his wife Jaya’s recent walk out from Parliament was her right as an MP.  If there is motive in that, then let Parliament take action if there is wrong. Amar Singhji is like a family member and his politics or for that matter the politics of Bala Saheb Thackeray or Mr Advani or any other political head, who have friendly and family relations with us, have never been a barrier,” he said.  They do not interfere in my films, I do not interfere or comment on their politics. Just because Mr Bill Clinton writes to me does not make me a Democrat in the US,” he added.
