Post Musharraf scenario
Pakistan president General Pervez Musharraf who is also the Army chief of Pakistan Army gonna be retire from Army today. His strength was his army uniform. Few times he quoted his uniform as his skin. It is true, due to skin he managed to rule 9 years. Now time have come to say good bye him. The first episode is in shape of his retirement from army.
The question arises the post Musharraf scenario. How the strategic partners of Pakistan will see the change in Pakistan govt. Will the new government will continue the cooperation as Musharraf pledge. I think the cooperation in regard of combatting terrorism will continue while the other issues like economic and foreign affairs will take a shift with new peoples. Right now the government is mostly relying on retired army officers in conducting the foreign affairs. Many no. of high commissions are being run through retired army peoples. If the PML Nawaz or PPP will win the elections then definitely the new government will change lot of faces. This theory will apply in internal establishment of Pakistan too.
GHQ role will be limited in conducting the national affairs and ultimately the Musharraf position will be weekened and he will have to step down from president ship too. Either there is Musharraf or any other there will be no change of diplomatic ties because Pakistan is not in a condition in which any ruling leader of Pakistan will divert from international agendas.
Musharraf was relying on technocrats while in the political parties of Pakistan there are very less technical peoples. The mostly are so called politicians which totally depends on establishment. If the establishment peoples are same as now then only Musharraf roots will be strong but at all time there be a hanging sword on him which compel him at any time to vacate the presidency because the constitution will take effect and his powers will become less.
